And now for something completely different. I wrote a few short funny tracks for these Super 8 videos by KT Auleta.
The videos are based on sports that used to be in the Olympics but aren’t any more.
Or check it out on NOWNESS!
Here’s a brand-new one. Directed by Cara Stricker and published by Russh magazine. I did the music and sound design in the studio at Industrial Color. Pretty cool stuff; they shot this with a whole rack of GoPros and spent a zillion hours in post to get these freeze-you-in-the-air effects. Click the photo to check it out in Russh Magazine.
Due to some poor communication between the venue and ourselves, Studio 69 has been cancelled, for the time being. We’ll make it happen when we have the right spot and enough time to make it a monster.
In other news, there’s a bunch of other crap up on Soundcloud that I haven’t posted because it never seemed to fit anywhere. Enjoy.
A preview of a remix I did of this song for Hank and Cupcakes. I’m not sure how this is going to get released, if ever. It’s probably going to fizzle and die on the vine as so many of them do, but I’ll throw it in my sets.
This is a short mix I made for MessQueen a while back. Good tunes and painstakingly mixed; it’s more of a 20-minute mashup than a DJ mix.
This is a remix I did for Kittens Ablaze back in 2009, with Cubase and a pair of bookshelf speakers. It was one of the first remixes I ever did and it shot me up the audio-warping curve faaaast. I dug it out because it’s weird and cool and old I was all laid up at the shack in Bushwick with a broken shoulder and a zillion percocet. And there’s a killer synth solo. I think I was really into MSI at the time.
Here’s a jokey Easter song I did with Keef and Georgia. We felt that keeping the stupid-holiday-songs tradition alive was important and we knocked this out in a few hours.
This is a remix I did for the Unstoppable Death Machines last year. I’m not sure if it ever got released anywhere. (I’m currently working on a remix album for them called “Fake Money vs. The Unstoppable Death Machines…in Space” and it’s going to be awesome. Stay tuned.
And, last but not least, this bizarre grime-steppy rap song featuring Julian from Holland, plus cameos by Crazy Nick and Theodore Papes. A lot of Sixpoint cans went into this one. A long, confusing night for sure. Carlos used it for this video:
It’s been a brutal summer so far. Here’s the latest installment (a bit late) in the monthly mix series!
Free download, as usual. Tracklist on Soundcloud!
Also, SAVE THE DATE: On July 28th, myself, the Legendary Bishop and a solid crew of artists and party people are conspiring to bring you “Studio 69: A Midsummer Night’s Disco” at the Present Company gallery in Williamsburg. I’ll be posting plenty about that in the coming days.
Also, it’s been brought to my attention that my graphic design sucks. Dude, I know. I’ve got that ’96 Print Shop look to all my cover art and it’s lame but that’s just how it’s going to be. I could spend the summer learning how to use Photoshop or I could be canonballing into giant tureens of cool pudding with arm floats on, and I’ve made my choice.
No flyer for this one.
Myself and the lovely Stina (SISTA/SISTA, CHERYL) will be doing the making-of-a-dance-party thing in the front room at LEGION on Friday the 13th. Right across from the White Castle on Metropolitan, yeeeeeah. Speaking of which, who’s been to “White Burger” in Greenpoint? The name terrifies me. And it looks like they’re in bed with Subway.
In the back room the Secret Formula peeps will be doing their 90s singalong video thing which looks fun too. And, from their website:
$3 Atomic Lagers and $5 beer and a shot specials! which doesn’t sound like a bad deal at all.
